Have a look inside the «heart» of the large-scale biocarbon production facility under development at Hønefoss. Inside the 1000 square meters pyrolysis hall, up to 4 tons of biomass feedstock will be processed every hour and turned into biocarbon and other carbon-neutral products like bio-oil and bioenergy.
For the first phase of the plant, four Biogreen pyrolysis reactors from Etia will be installed together with the support systems for the pyrolysis process. The support systems include process steps such as biochar cooling and gas/oil separation, transport systems, a wide range of sensors and instruments for good process surveillance and control, and tons of structural steel and piping.
«The installation of process equipment is precision work by definition. Large amounts of equipment will be installed and tested going forward to ensure that everything within the process works and runs smoothly,” said Vow Green Metals’ VP Projects, Cathrine Adolfsen.
The installation of process equipment is progressing well with the installation of structural steel and transportation screws. In the next couple of weeks, the pyrolysis reactors will be lifted in with the bridge crane and installed within the steel structures that are already in place.
“We have partnered with NLI Engineering to do the on-site installation work. We have already successfully worked together on our early production line employing the same technology, and we expect to implement learnings and harvest synergies together on the installation of the process equipment for our large-scale production facility,” said Adolfsen.
